The Fight, a new novel by Jamey Toner

Hey, guys. I’ve been gone for awhile. Mostly, Ellie and I have been busy raising the children that I started this blog to talk about in the first place—but also, I’ve been writing a book. It’s called The Fight, and it’s just been published by Chrism Press!

The Fight is a fantasy novel. A swordsman called Cundar of Raelor undertakes an impossible quest, trusting entirely in his own strength, and the story is all about what happens when you try to do that. You’ll see dragons and wizards, ogres and trolls, gods and demons—and, as the name implies, a lot of fighting. It’s varied with plenty of humor and romance, and a cast of (hopefully) likeable and interesting characters.

Ultimately, this is a tale about our never-ending struggle against the Darkness. In a way, the plot isn’t all that different from the plots of many fantasy novels; it just does it better. I’ll include the official synopsis below.

The Fight is available in paperback and Kindle. Chrism Press is a great publisher, and if you enjoy this book, you should definitely check out some of their other stuff. And hey, if you do like it, please don’t be shy about sharing it with your friends! Thank you, guys. God bless you and yours.

Cundar of Raelor is just looking for a good fight. When the High Priestess of Wisdom accidentally sends him on a death quest against the demon lord Kazregoth, he cares nothing for the explosive religious and political tensions engulfing his continent. Yet Cundar makes improbable progress through the ranks of the demon lord’s minions, forcing the armies of nations to wheel into position around him, and the gods themselves take uneasy notice of his quest. As Cundar leaves a swath of bloodshed in his wake, dragons, ogres, mages, and even simple troubadours must join the fight.

But something even worse than Kazregoth is waiting in the mountains of Raelor back home: something that will force Cundar to question which side is good and which is evil—and which one he will choose.

The Fight is a fast-paced fantasy adventure that pulls no punches about the nature of evil or the only kind of warfare that can truly bring it down.
